The mission of the North Carolina Gourd Society is to promote the history and culture of gourds in North Carolina and the nation. This includes providing education and assistance to gourd specialists and the general public in growing, crafting, and artistic uses of gourds. These efforts culminate each year with the North Carolina Gourd Arts and Crafts Festival, held the first weekend after Labor Day at the State Fairgrounds.
Major sources of income for the NC Gourd Society are membership dues, festival ticket sales, and other festival income. We also rely on donations to help us spread the gourd word to school groups, community organizations, and the general public. The NC Gourd Society is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and donations to the NC Gourd Society are 100% deductible for federal income tax purposes.
