Purple Passion

Nothing is required. Optionally, bring an apron, basket weaving tools, mister, old towel. Instructor will have tools and basins for class use.
Class Description:
A darling little square to round purple basket that features a natural filled base that is woven up with the over/under technique then finished off with a folded rim. A great size for a potted plant or as a hostess gift. 4″H x 7½” diameter. Most students will leave with a finished basket.

Geometric Ball

Master pro carver or Dremel with small bits, apron, small old towel, mask, gloves.
Class Description:
Normally the burn takes an hour to 30 minutes to burn. In 4 hours it is impossible to finish the work. The instructor will bring the gourds already burned and drawn. In class she will give a demonstration of burning with a torch. The student will learn to burn on a 6″ gourd with a torch in an easy and fun way. Students will apply egg shells to give it an organic decoration. Students will take home a finished project.

Jewelry Making using Altered Pages

Two pairs of small jewelry type needle-nose pliers; apron.
Class Description:
The project is a creative way to use photographs from National Geographic magazine (after 1970) and a solvent, Citrosolv CONCENTRATE. The solvent breaks down the inks used printing pictures and melds the colors. Students will be shown how this is done. Then during the rest of class we will decoupage gourd shards with previously altered pages. We will use jewelry findings to put together a bracelet, pendant necklace and ear rings. Most students will leave with a finished project.

Button Gourd

Students should bring:
A Rotary carver with small ball burrs and a wood burner with assorted pens; apron and gloves for wood burning.
Class Description:
Students will begin with a pre-dyed gourd (approximately 5″ to 6″). First thing to do will be to draw the basic design on the gourd. These lines will then be carved. This will be followed by wood burning a simple pattern along the top of the gourd. Dimples will be added in the wood burned areas with a small ball burr for seed beads. The seed beads will then be glued into the dimples. This will be followed by slip stitching raffia to the rim and finishing the gourd with shell buttons. Decorative knots with beads will add a finishing touch. Most students will leave with a finished project.

Gourd Spider Ornaments

Class Description:
You will learn how to make fun Christmas Spider ornaments. We will paint and add embellishments on them. The teacher will show you how to make the legs out of beads and how to attach them. Each spider will be about 3” to 4” in size. Most students will leave with two finished spiders.
