Class Description:

In this sculpting class we are going to learn all about cats! This is an intermediate to advanced sculpting class where you will be learning in-depth skills such as forming complex shapes, blending, and refined textures. Both Quickwood and Apoxie sculpt clay will be used on top of small pear or bell gourds. This class is a sculpting class only where will be sculpting the the cats tail and entire head (as pictured). Apoxie sculpt takes approx. 4 hours to cure so we will not be painting them in class. Please ensure you bring tools mentioned in next section. You will leave with a fully sculpted chunky cat.

Approximate size:  6″ tall

Percentage of the class project most students will complete during class: 50%

Students should bring: Sculpting tools, X-acto knife, and a stylus.

Class Description:

In this class you construct a lovely Halloween centerpiece for your table.

Class title: Gnattermoss: The Goodish Gremlin

Class description:

In this class students will learn how to sculpt their own “Goodish Gremlin” using quikcure clay – a modeling clay that cures on demand in minutes! You will learn how to create poses and armatures for the gremlin and then build their bodies up. The class also incorporates the use of botanicals in creating your creature.

Approximate size:  4″ – 5″

Percentage of the class project most students will complete during class: 75% to 90%

Students should bring:

A Heatgun (not a hair dryer – it will not work with this project). This is a project where individual heatguns are a must! Students may wish to bring their own apron.

Class title: Wood Burned Botanical Gourd with Faux Leather Look

Instructor:  Regina Pena

Class description:

Students will learn to design their gourds and wood burning techniques: shading and stippling. In addition, students will learn how to stain their gourds and create a faux stitching border. We will be using a large goose egg or ornamental gourd. Note: stand is not included.

Approximate size:  4” to 7”

Percentage of the class project most students will complete during class: 95% – 100%

Students should bring:

  • Wood burner with temperature control and small ball tip, writing tip, and shading tip. Instructor has wood burners available upon request.
  • N95 mask (if desired)
  • Apron
  • Gloves
  • Small detail paint brush

Instructor will provide:

Gourd, paint, dyes, paint brushes, micro brushes, palettes, limited sizes of plastic aprons and gloves
